SAIS will ensure all “data subjects” are aware of their rights under the legislation. SAIS will process personal data relating to you and your children. With regard to such processing, SAIS will qualify as a data controller. Personal data will only be disclosed to those of SAIS, staff and collaborators, who need access to personal data mainly for ensuring the provision of educational and other services.

The categories of personal data that SAIS processes include, but are not limited to those in our pre-enrolment form. Generally, all personal data held by SAIS is provided directly by parents and/or by a pupils legal guardian. In some cases, nevertheless, third parties (e.g. representatives of former schools attended by pupils) supply data.
Data is obtained through several different communication channels:

d) Through the online application interface and pre-enrolment forms;
e) During face-to-face meetings
All data obtained pertain towards the provision of educational and ancillary services. Please note that there are some mandatory categories of personal data necessary to SAIS in order to conclude the enrolment and provide the educational services to students at a high standard and in their best interest. The mandatory categories of personal data are included in the application form, which you have filled in on-line. Please take into consideration, that all the mandatory categories of data are necessary for SAIS to be able to evaluate your application and finally to enrol your child. Failure to provide all the information will lead to the impossibility of SAIS to process your application
Personal data that pertain to you or to the pupils are used for the following purposes:
1- Provision of educational and ancillary services:
a) Contact lists;
b) School related communications – newsletters, daily bulletin and emails;
c) Provision of educational services;
d) Setting up the virtual learning environment and granting access to online platforms;
e) Organising school trips and events;
f) Participating in school related events;
g) Provision of any food arrangements with our catering company due to existing food allergies or special dietary requirements;
2- Complying with our legal obligations and lawful purposes:
a) Activating school insurance and posterior communication if deemed necessary in case of accidents.
b) Billing software supplier;
c) Communication with our accountant’s office;
d) Communication with the ministry of education and other governmental organisations;
e) Communication with Cambridge Assessment International Education;
f) Communication with Social Security and the Finances Department;
g) Compliance with other legal obligations and for lawful purposes.

b) Catering Service
c) Direção Geral de Educação
d) Cambridge Assessement International Education
e) Accountants Office and other organisations directly connected to our billing software supplier;
f) Social Security
g) To appropriate regulatory bodies and professional advisers;
h) Extra-curricular activities and activities which are of interest to our student body;
i) Subcontractors who do the processing and treatment of the personal data collected;
j) Judicial or administrative authorities, where yielding information is mandatory (e.g court orders);
The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) provides certain rights related to the processing of personal data, that both you and pupils have. SAIS respects all the rights mentioned under the GDPR and is committed to furnishing the appropriate means by which you can exercise these rights, according to the following: The right to access, to rectification, to erasure, to restriction of processing, to data portability, to object, to lodge a complaint, and to withdraw your consent given for various processing operations.
We will also confer the right to oppose to the usage of your personal data for marketing purposes of any kind.
If you did not oppose from receiving marketing and information bulletins whilst filling in the data consent file, you may request this at a later time. You always have the right to withdraw consent, where given, or otherwise object to direct marketing.

SAIS will retain personal data no longer than is necessary for the specified purpose or purposes for which it was given. As a general rule, the information will be kept for the duration of the pupil´s time in school. Thereafter, once the data has fulfilled its purpose it will be destroyed.
